Projects, assignments, and family vacation time have made me MIA for the past couple of weeks. Those are all good things, and you can check out one of the fun adventures I’ve been on by clicking right here.
After completing my various projects, I realized that I had so many press releases and cool news sitting in my in-box (and falling all over my desk) that I wasn’t sure what to share first. I finally decided on one that has two aspects near and dear to my heart (well, actually, it’s more than that, but I won’t bore you with all of the details). Those two aspects are, of course, boating and Walt Disney World.
The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) and its Take Me Fishing campaign are on a mission to get kids and families to enjoy the outdoors through fun fishing and boating excursions. They’ve teamed up with the Walt Disney World (WDW) Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida to sponsor fun and educational catch-and-release fishing and boating experiences to guests at the resort. I have to admit, one of my favorite Disney experiences is taking the water ferry anywhere I can.
From the press release:
Three locations at the WDW resort offer Take Me Fishing branded guided fishing and boating experiences. Visitors to Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground have the opportunity to participate in dockside fishing, while visitors at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort-Riverside can try their hand at cane pole fishing. Guests can also enjoy the “Take Me Fishing Challenge” recently introduced at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
“With the popularity of fishing and boating on the rise with women and children in the U.S. collaborating with the Walt Disney World Resort is helping us get even more families engaged in these sports,” said Frank Peterson, president and CEO of RBFF. “Our collective dedication to conservation and family activity make this relationship ideal to showcasing the magic of fishing and boating.”
Guests who boat and fish at the WDW resort will be encouraged to continue these memorable experiences at home by connecting with TakeMeFishing.org, which provides more information about where to boat and fish in their local communities. Parents can also find how-to videos to learn fishing basics as well as additional safety tips and advice.
In addition to Take Me Fishing’s presence at the WDW resort, they have a relationship with Disney Media Networks to spread the word about the benefits of fishing and boating. This relationship includes sponsorships on Disney Channel and Disney XD, activating through Radio Disney at popular events around the country, as well as integration of the Take Me Fishing messaging in online content and mobile apps.
